If at all possible, try to get some sort of dental plan. Those who have one generally get one from their employer. Even poor plans will pay out some money for basic oral care dental services.

For those who don’t have a dental plan and still require basic oral care, it’s still possible to get this care. It requires some planning and a good relationship with your dentist. Plan your visits ahead of time so that you have time to save a portion of your earning for the care of your teeth. You may want to arrange for a quick assessment with your dentist. An assessment will let you know what needs to be done and when so that you can get those procedures done before the problem becomes a big one.

Try to get a fixed price for the procedures. Dentists will often charge top dollar for services covered by insurance, but may provide a slightly lower rate for the person who is paying for the dental services out of pocket.
